To restore, protect, and enhance the environment for all Illinois citizens, the Board promulgates environmental regulations and standards; and adjudicates contested environmental cases, serving as a public forum to resolve environmental issues and providing consistent interpretation of the Environmental Protection Act to enhance voluntary compliance.

To provide a public process for fairly and effectively considering environmental cases and regulations, ensuring that the Environmental Protection Act is interpreted, applied, and implemented impartially and consistently.

Continue to provide Web access to the most currently updated Environmental Protection Act and Board regulations; hearing transcripts and public comments; legislative updates including links to pending environmental bills; links to other environmental, legal, and State Web sites; the citizens guide for filing actions with and participating before the Board; the Board calendar, meeting agendas, and meeting minutes; and an updated list of pro bono attorneys.

Continue an active public speaking agenda to increase awareness of Illinois environmental law and regulation, and to increase awareness of the Board as a research tool and a public forum for environmental cases.
